Organizational Development

Abstract
Organizational development constitutes a strategic direction for the qualitative evolution of social institutions/
organizations, focused on the general and specific objectives of the relevant activity, designed in accordance with existing/
available informational, human, material, and financial resources, and carried out within a time-bound process, against the
backdrop of optimizing the relationships between input variables (operationalized objectives, theoretical and applied content/
knowledge; methodology; formal and non-formal norms; research models) and output variables (the resulting products, socially
validated in terms of efficiency and effectiveness). In pedagogy, organizational development has as its frame of reference: 1)
the multidimensional structure of the education system (organization by levels and stages of education; managerial/top-level,
intermediate, and basic leadership; distribution of pedagogical resources; relations with society) corresponding to the general function of psychological (cognitive and non-cognitive) and social (cultural, civic, professional, community) formation
and development of the learner’s personality with a view to permanent integration into the next educational level and into
society; 2) the school as a learning organization, which is the specific subject of study of an applied educational science
(school organization management), constructed both intradisciplinarily (by deepening the concept of the educational system as defined and analyzed by general educational theory, with connections to general instructional theory/general didactics
and general curriculum theory) and interdisciplinarily (pedagogy – economics; pedagogy – sociology; pedagogy – political
science; pedagogy – social psychology). Developments in recent decades have been marked by social constructivism (which
promotes the thesis of quality education as a determining factor in social development) and psychological constructivism
(which anticipates learning success by projecting it into the zone of proximal development).
