Visible Learning: Principles and Strategies for High School Students
##plugins.themes.academic_pro.article.main##
Abstract
Visible learning provides a relevant pedagogical framework for secondary education as it promotes the explicit articulation and awareness of learning processes, facilitating the development of students’ cognitive and metacognitive competencies. In an educational context where the goal is to shape an autonomous, reflective, and cultured reader, it becomes essential for teaching approaches to go beyond content transmission and focus on how students learn. Integrating visible learning principles, such as clarifying learning intentions, setting success criteria, and using formative feedback, contributes to increasing the transparency of the educational process and actively engaging students in their own learning journey, while the application of appropriate teaching strategies for the high-school level, based on guided thinking, reflection, and self-regulation, enables the students to develop their ability to understand, interpret, and critically evaluate information.
